We got stuck in L.A.-bound traffic this morning when we decided to visit family in Victorville. It took us almost two hours to drive from Las Vegas to the state line at Primm (40 miles). Things were so bad that we decided to turn around and head back. Yikes!
Despite all the complaints we hear about the poor driving habits of Las Vegas residents, Nevada ranked #26 on the list of states ranked by safe driving record.

Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer tourist season in Las Vegas. It is a big weekend for the clubs with all major pool parties already open and big name DJs headlining at night. DJ Tiesto is playing at Jet this Sunday and at Bank on Monday.

This morning I helped my neighbor remove the cactus barbs from his dog. He regularly takes his two dogs for runs up in the hilly desert area behind our subdivision. The poor pooch had a whole piece of jumping cholla stuck to his belly and several barbs on his legs and face.

The Las Vegas Sun is full of bleak headlines:
Casino win on Strip down 12.2 percent in March
Fifteen-month slump continues
Driven by a whopping 40 percent reduction in prices, home sales soared in April in the Las Vegas area, the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors reported today.
I celebrated Cinco de Mayo with margaritas and carne asada tacos with meat from my grill this afternoon. May 5th also marked my two year anniversary living here in Las Vegas.
Looking back at my previous posts I see my topics changing from those of a new-homeowner in a new city to those of being a homeowner in the foreclosure capital of the nation. While things are not great from a debit to equity perspective I take heart in the fact that I would have lost much more had I bought in California. Also, my monthly payment is very reasonable for the amount of space we have. I shudder to think how humongous my mortgage would be for a home in Los Angeles.
