It’s pretty easy to get to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. You want to make your way east until you hit Interstate 15. Go north for about three hours and you’re there.
We live on the Westside so our route was a bit more tricky. Going east on the 10 freeway is never pleasant so I worked out this alternate path:
- Take the 405 to the 10
- Go 10 east until you hit the 605
- Head north on 605 until you reach the 210
- Proceed on 210 east until it meets up with the 15
Searching for a new home in Las Vegas using the internet has been fun but we’re ready to get out and see some actual properties. This house-hunting trip was delayed once before and we’re anxious to get going!
I’ll devote my next few posts to providing details on:
This weekend’s house-hunting trip was cancelled due to an unforgiving work schedule (one of the reasons we want to move). We were planning to stay at the Good Day Inn. From the poor reviews on TripAdvisor this is not a great place to stay.

Looks like I’ll have another week to continue looking at online listings.
Yep . . . Vegas. After much consideration (and healthy debate) my wife and I have decided to abandon our Los Angeles house-hunt and move to Sin City. Why Las Vegas over Los Angeles?
Reasons for leaving L.A.
- Despite our dual income we cannot afford the type of home we want.
- Traffic is GOD awful. All the time.
- The cost of living is high.
- We are unhappy with our stressful and demanding jobs.
Reasons for moving to L.V.
- Affordable housing.
- 4-5 hour drive to visit family in Southern California.
- Good restaurants and vibrant nightlife.
- No state income tax means we’ll keep more of the money we earn.
This blog will chronicle our search for a new home, relocation and adventures in Las Vegas, Nevada.
